Gabriel Lopez

Master Edgar Young

Gabriel Lopez is the owner, operator, and lead instructor of The Urban Dojang. He began his martial art training over 31 years ago and holds a 1st Dan black belt through the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. Gabriel has many years of experience in the health, and fitness and youth development fields. These experiences have developed his unique ability to motivate and communicate with his students. He attended the University of Minnesota, and has completed his B.S. degree in Kinesiology. Master Edgar Young is a WTF certified 6th Dan black belt and has been involved in Tae Kwon Do for 35 years. He is head instructor of Young’s Taekwondo School in Woodbury, MN. Master Young is a very accomplished sparring and form tournament competitor. He holds a B.A. in Counseling and a Masters in Social Work from Augsburg College. Mr. Young is employed as a School Social Worker for the Minneapolis Public School District. Master Young generously provides support to The Urban Dojang School through leadership, guidance, and his many years of martial art experience.

Carrie Bucholz

Lay T. Xiong

Ms Bucholz’s bio will be available soon. Mr. Xiong began studying martial arts in Argentina over 20 years ago. His formal training has earned him a black belt in the Korean Art of Sipalki-Do. Lay has directed youth programs and taught academics at the elementary school and high school levels. In addition, he has taught martial arts in Argentina. Lay’s skill and knowledge of the martial arts are a great contribution to our school. Mr. Xiong attended Luis Beltran College for Education and I.S. Juan XXIII School for Computer Programming. Lay is currently training to earn a World Tae Kwon Do Federation black belt certification. He is multi-lingual in Hmong, Spanish, and English.

Mike Campeau

Aaron Donovan

Mr. Campeau began his formal training in martial arts over 30 yrs ago. He has a Black Belt Certification in the art of Kempo and within the style of Kwan Fa. He also has some formal training in Judo and Monkey style Kung Fu. Mike values modeling strong leadership with our students. He values the discipline that the art can instill in each participant and how it can impact an individual’s life in many positive ways. Currently, he is working on achieving a World Tae Kwon Do Black Belt Certificate. Mr. Campeau works for the Eden Prairie School District. Mr. Donovan is a 5th Degree Black Belt in the Art of Karate and within the style of Jishin Do. He trained extensively for 16 yrs in this art to acquire his current rank. When he was just 6 yr old, his father began to introduce to him various martial arts styles. Aaron has competed in many open martial art tournaments in board breaking competitions. Mr. Donovan has a sincere passion for teaching and helping students achieve their goals. He is currently working towards a World Tae Kwon Do Black Belt Certification. Mr. Donovan has studied Information Technology in college and is currently working with Ecolab in the Twin Cities.
